2023. The Act of LemoDada – LEMONISM performance series, NEW
The Act of LemoDada is part of Akemi Takeya’s LEMONISM series, in which she confronts and combines different art move-ments, “ISMS”, with her own artistic concept, combining a rhizomatic performance series and installation. Since 2016 Akemi Takeya has been “working-in-progress”.
Her LEMONISM chases historical movements (-isms) through her body and confronts the legacies of art history. Every part of her body becomes a tool with which she adapts, para-phrases, deconstructs and finally playfully and newly brings together the diverse -isms in her own cosmos. She is inspired by the concept of the mandala, which in Hinduism and Buddhism denotes the entire universe. Takeya’s “lemonistic” confrontation with various movements in art history became her own personal “ism”: Lemonism.
Beginning with LEMONISM x ACTIONISM, then JAPONISM, MINIMALISM, SYMBOLISM and DADAISM, various -isms were paraphrased and finally brought together to form Takeya’s own unique artistic world.
